Northridge Withdraws From USIU Soccer Invitational
Cal State Northridge has withdrawn from the U.S. International University soccer invitational this weekend but will still play Loyola on Saturday.
If the Matadors played in the tournament, which begins Saturday in San Diego, they would exceed the number of non-conference games permitted by the California Collegiate Athletic Assn., CSUN spokesman Greg Badovinac said.

In Friday’s editions, The Times incorrectly reported that the Cal Sate Northridge soccer team was scheduled to play Loyola today and that the Matadors had withdrawn from a weekend tournament to comply with California Collegiate Athletic Assn. scheduling rules.
Although CSUN has withdrawn from the tournament, a spokesman for the school said the decision was not made to comply with CCAA rules, and the Matadors will not play Loyola today.
Northridge (7-1-0) is coming off a 3-1 victory over Westmont on Wednesday night, a game that saw high-scoring forward John Tronson ejected. Tronson will not play against Loyola. According to NCAA regulations, an ejected player may not play in his team’s next game.
CSUN has added Brigham Young University to its schedule.
