Son Arrested in Mother’s Strangling
The son of a La Palma woman found strangled in her apartment bedroom Tuesday morning has been arrested in connection with her death and is being held in the Orange County Jail, La Palma police reported Friday.
Keith Alan MacMeekin, 18, who lived with his mother in the Brookside Apartment complex, was picked up on an arrest warrant by U.S. Customs agents in San Ysidro about 5:15 p.m. Thursday as he was returning to the United States from Tijuana, a La Palma police spokeswoman said.
Police did not disclose any motive in the death of Virginia MacMeekin, 49. Police discovered her body about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after the apartment manager learned she had failed to arrive for work.
Police said that they found no signs of robbery, sexual assault or forced entry at the scene, but signs of a struggle were evident.
