Local News in Brief : School Incumbent Out of Moorpark Race
Moorpark school board member Charles B. Schwabauer has announced that he will not seek reelection in November.
Schwabauer, 57, a rancher who has served five years on the board, said his doctor told him “not to go through another term.”
He said he was satisfied that the board had completed the hiring of a new school superintendent and a business manager. “It will be a real pleasure for the new board members to work with them. We did an outstanding job in selecting two such competent men,” he said.
Schwabauer’s withdrawal leaves nine candidates for three seats on the board. Six of them are running for two seats that carry four-year terms, and three for one seat that carries a two-year term.
