College Water Polo : No.2 UC Irvine Upset by Fresno State

The Fresno State men’s water polo team defeated UC Irvine Saturday, 9-6, at Clovis. UCI had been ranked second in the country entering the match.

UCI trailed, 4-0, but managed to tie the score at 5 early in the third period. The Anteaters were outscored, 4-1, the final 10 minutes.

UCI (6-3) meets Pacific today at Stockton.

Chapman College took third place in the four-team Highlander Open at UC Riverside Saturday, defeating Cal Tech, 16-5, for its only win in three matches. UC Riverside won the tournament and Redlands took second place.

Carter Faber and John Comer made the all-tournament team for the Panthers. Chapman (1-3) plays host to Riverside in a nonconference match Wednesday.
