Skateboarder Seriously Injured in Collision With Automobile
An 11-year-old boy was in serious condition Sunday after he was struck by a car while riding his skateboard in Northridge and dragged 70 feet, police said.
Michael Flannery of Sepulveda was suffering from head and chest injuries at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills after the 7:45 a.m. collision at Superior Street and Amestoy Avenue.
Michael and two companions were riding their skateboards north on a downhill stretch of Amestoy Avenue when the accident occurred.
One of the boys turned east on Superior Street, but when Michael tried to make the turn, a motorist going east on Superior could not stop in time and slammed into him, Officer Richard Neuenschwander said.
The female motorist was not cited, police said.
