Officer’s Stolen Porsche Found After Being Demolished
A sports car stolen at gunpoint from a Los Angeles police commander in Beverly Hills was recovered after being demolished in an accident, police said Sunday.
The 1977 Porsche collided with another car that was apparently trying to get out of its way about 1 p.m. Saturday on Western Avenue near 51st Street, Sgt. Robert Taylor said.
The driver of the stolen car fled. There were no injuries, Taylor said.
Cmdr. Frank Piersol of the LAPD’s South Bureau and his two adult daughters were getting out of the car Friday night at a Beverly Hills restaurant when two men approached, Beverly Hills police said. One pointed a gun and demanded that Piersol start the car. The men then climbed in and sped away.
