Garden Grove : Man Sought in Death of Woman Surrenders
A fugitive wanted for the Feb. 13 strangling death of a 24-year-old woman in a Garden Grove motel has surrendered to authorities in Nogales, Ariz., and was expected to be returned to Orange County late Tuesday, police said.
Clinton Arthur Browning, 43, of Anaheim was being sought by detectives for the slaying of Christine Helen Reinecker of Huntington Beach, whose body was discovered the morning of Feb. 13 in the Ranch Motel at 8822 Garden Grove Blvd., Police Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said.
A no-bail warrant charging Browning with Reinecker’s slaying was issued several weeks ago. “We have talked to him on the telephone,” Beauchamp said, “but we haven’t been able to find him.”
Browning “apparently got tired of running,” Beauchamp said, and surrendered to Nogales police on Monday. Beauchamp said Browning is also named in a $150,000 warrant charging him with a prior assault, but no details on that case were immediately available.
