Bid Stormy Weather Adieu as Sun Makes a Comeback

The stormy weather that brought showers and cloudy skies this week is expected to exit as the latest low-pressure system travels east, clearing the way for sunny skies and a return to seasonal San Diego County weather.

According to the National Weather Service, the second of two low-pressure systems was moving into Arizona Thursday, just in time for clear weekend weather.

Rainfall from this week’s storms totalled 0.15 of an inch at Lindbergh Field, which brought San Diego to its expected seasonal total--0.35 of an inch--for this time of year.

A high-pressure system over the Pacific should bring a warm, dry air mass into Central California today, said forecaster Harvey Hastrup, which will encourage a return to seasonal weather here.

Some late-night and early-morning clouds along the coast are expected today and Saturday, but sunny days are expected through the weekend.

Temperatures should warm today, drop a few degrees Saturday and return to a warming trend Sunday, forecasters said.

Highs at the beach are expected in the 70s today and Saturday, where the ocean temperature hovers at 65 degrees and the surf is one to two feet. North to northeast winds of 10 to 20 m.p.h. are expected.

Coastal strip highs in the 70s today and Saturday are expected to drop to the 50s at night. An inland valley high of 84 today may fall to the 70s on Saturday. Nighttime lows will be in the mid-40s to mid-50s.

Gusty winds in the mountains should decrease today and highs in the 60s may dip near freezing at night.
