Tecate
A 19-year-old Tecate woman was found dead nearly two days after her car ran off Highway 94 during a rainstorm, the California Highway Patrol reported. Coroner’s deputies said Margarita Mattson was driving west on the highway when she apparently lost control of the car and it careened down an embankment, ejecting her. The CHP reported that Mattson had crossed through a border checkpoint about 2:30 p.m. Thursday while en route to La Mesa. Her body was found about 8:45 a.m. Saturday by Border Patrol agents.
