Firearms Cache Seized in Raid; 2 Men Arrested
Two men were arrested and an array of machine guns and silencers were seized in Santa Ana late Thursday in a raid by Costa Mesa police and agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Michael Duane Butler and Ronald Zorola, both 32, were arrested without incident in a residential garage at 508 W. Edinger Ave. They were booked on suspicion of possessing unregistered firearms.
Following an appearance Friday before U.S. Magistrate John Kronenberg in Los Angeles, Zorola was released after posting 10% of a $10,000 bond. Butler was ordered held for at least 10 days because of a prior conviction on similar charges.
David Troy, assistant special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said officers seized nine automatic weapons, including two Uzi machine guns, along with 13 silencers and 10 semi-automatic handguns.
