A sewer pipe rupture is suspected in Playa del Rey, but a Los Angeles Board of Public Works spokesman said no sewage apparently has gone into either the ocean or nearby Del Rey Lagoon. Work crews were pumping water Saturday from the point where the sewer line may have broken, at 64th and Pacific avenues, three blocks south of Ballona Creek. A 40-inch pipe that runs to the Hyperion Sewage Treatment Plant in the El Segundo area is buried about 10 to 12 feet deep there. The spokesman said a leak is suspected because the water table has risen there, but only a small amount of liquid has percolated to the surface.
