Media Appeal Is No Way to Determine Champions
I appreciate that Jim Murray writes his column to entertain rather than inform. Nonetheless, the implications of his column in the Oct. 18 paper were frightening.
If baseball champions are to be selected based on their media appeal rather than their ability to win ball games, then the nation’s fans may just as well skip the regular season and we can watch the World Series between the New York and Los Angeles teams in April. And if baseball talent is determined by media appeal, who do we put in the Hall of Fame--Steve Sax?
