Royal’s Roger Green caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Shaun Christensen in the second quarter to tie the score, 7-7. Newbury Park then went ahead, 13-7, on a one-yard keeper by quarterback Jayson Merrill and never lost the lead. Sean McLeod of Newbury Park scored on a two-yard run, his first of two touchdowns, to make the score 21-7. A 37-yard touchdown pass to Steve Muscarella from Merrill closed out the scoring. Ralph Blanks of Royal returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown, but it was called back on a clipping penalty.
