North Hollywood: Week of Looking Up Is Looking Down

Consider the case of the North Hollywood High football team. After losing its first four games, it came away with a 10-7 victory over Sylmar last week.

Things were certainly looking up, or at least differently.

“The whole world looked different to us this week,” North Hollywood Coach Fred Neilson said.

Well, things are looking a lot more normal after Friday afternoon’s game with University.

University (3-1, 3-3) scored on each of its first-half possessions to take a 33-0 halftime lead and cruise to a 33-6 Pac 8 League victory.

It didn’t take North Hollywood (1-3, 1-5) long to show everyone that last week might have been a fluke.

On its first play, University scored on a 39-yard pass from quarterback John Moomaw to receiver Paul Richardson.

The Warriors continued their parade toward the end zone throughout the first half.

Moomaw and Richardson connected again in the second quarter on a 32-yard scoring pass. Running back William Harris scored three times, all in the first half.

Despite sitting out most of the second half, Harris finished the game with 120 yards in 16 carries.

University outgained the Huskies in total offense, 434 yards to 117.
