Santa Ana : Landlord Due to Be Sentenced Wednesday
A landlord convicted on two counts of maintaining substandard housing will face sentencing Wednesday.
Delbert Scott of Anaheim was charged after city inspectors discovered a family living in a burned-out building he owns at 1102 W. Pine St. Deputy City Atty.Luis Rodriguez said the inspectors at first thought the people were transients but later found they were paying $650 a month to live there in addition to a $200 security deposit. Scott has since made full repairs.
Rodriguez said the case is significant because it is the first conviction for housing code violations since Santa Ana stepped up inspections in April last year.
Scott faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail or a $2,000 fine.
