Westlake Snaps Royal’s 29-Match Streak in Volleyball
Westlake High ended the Royal High volleyball team’s 29-match Marmonte League winning streak Tuesday, upsetting the No. 2-ranked Highlanders, 11-15, 15-11, 15-7, 15-3, at Westlake.
Both teams are 10-1 and tied for first place.
“This is the first game this season in which Westlake has played up to its potential,” said Westlake Coach David Rubio. “And that looks good because we’re peaking for the playoffs.”
Alissa Evans led the Warriors with 25 kills, while teammate April Devine came through with six aces. Rubio credited Dana Simone and Louise Joubert with their best games of the season.
“Alissa and Dana had outstanding matches,” Rubio said. “I think Louise had the best setting match that I have seen this season.”
West Lake and Royal each have one regular season game remaining.
