Kansas Curator Chosen for Smithsonian Position

WASHINGTON — A University of Kansas curator of mammals has been selected as director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History, officials announced Wednesday.
Robert Hoffmann, one of the leading U.S. experts on mammals, will assume his new duties in the spring of 1986. Presently, he is Summerfield Distinguished Professor at the University of Kansas at Lawrence.
