Skating Rink Converted Into Clothing Store
An $8-million, 27,500-square-foot Esprit de Corp high-style clothing store has opened in the former Flipper’s roller-skating rink at Santa Monica and La Cienega boulevards in West Hollywood.
Illig Construction Co. converted an existing one-level, 17,500-square-foot building into a three-level structure with a separate three-level parking facility for 150 cars.
The store was designed by Joseph D’Urso of New York and Robert Weit, AIA, Los Angeles. Only the massive ceiling beams were left intact in the gutting of the original building. The store’s interior design features a high-tech, “industrial” look, with beams, supports and ducts visible.
