Wyoming Coach Al Kincaid knew going into his team’s Western Athletic Conference game against 17th-ranked Brigham Young at Provo, Utah, that the Cowboys would have a tough time of it.

A tough time, indeed. BYU won, 59-0.

“They did a better job of coaching than we did,” Kincaid said. “They did a better job of playing than we did. They totally embarrassed us.”

BYU rolled to its most lopsided victory of the season as quarterback Robbie Bosco passed for 266 yards and three touchdowns, and fullback Lakei Heimuli bulled in for three more scores.

Just one year ago, the Cougars needed a scoring pass from Bosco with 4:26 left in the game to eke out a 41-38 win over Wyoming.

This time, BYU entered the game smarting from its 23-16 loss at Texas El Paso, and Kincaid said going in that his team would be going “into the den of a wounded Cougar.”

The Cougars improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the WAC. The win also kept BYU in contention for its 10th straight WAC title. Air Force, a 31-10 winner over San Diego State Saturday, remains in first place in the conference with a 6-0 record. Utah, which won a nonconference game against Utah State, is in second place at 5-1.

Utah 34, Utah State 7--Defensive back Erroll Tucker, a 5-foot-8, 171-pound senior, returned two interceptions for touchdowns as Utah routed Utah State in a nonconference game at Salt Lake City.

Tucker’s scoring interception returns covered 66 and 41 yards.

Larry Egger passed for 208 yards and Utah’s other two touchdowns as the Utes improved to 7-2. With its sixth straight loss, Utah State dropped to 2-7.
