Pakistan freed opposition figure Benazir Bhutto from house arrest and placed her aboard a plane bound for Zurich, Switzerland. She told supporters along her route to the airport that she will return “to serve my people.” Bhutto was released after asking permission to answer a summons to appear Nov. 6 before a French court investigating the death of her younger brother, Shahnawaz. His body was found in his Cannes, France, apartment July 19. French authorities have not said how he died. Benazir Bhutto was put under house arrest when she returned to Pakistan for her brother’s funeral.
