The death Sunday of 3-year-old Kenneth Scoggings of apparent AIDS-related complications at Century Community Hospital is being investigated by Los Angeles police and the county coroner’s office. Officials are investigating because the child had apparently not been seen by a doctor within 20 days of his death. The boy had been diagnosed as having acquired immune deficiency syndrome during the summer. How the boy might have contracted the fatal disease was not known, but a police investigator said there were indications that he had received a blood transfusion--one of the ways AIDS is transmitted--shortly after his birth. An autopsy was set for today.
