7 Simi Stores Cited for Liquor Sales to Minor
Simi Valley police cited seven liquor stores for selling alcoholic beverages to a minor in a “sting” that employed a teen-age Police Department employee.
Police Lt. Rick TerBorch said Wednesday that officers used the 19-year-old employee as a decoy at 14 liquor stores Tuesday. The teen-ager entered the stores and asked to buy liquor. The stores who sold it to him were cited, TerBorch said. Six of the stores cited were repeat offenders, he said.
The sting was part of the department’s regular holiday crime-control program, TerBorch said, and similar operations will be carried out at bars, restaurants and supermarkets as the holidays near.
