Helping a Pet Squirrel to Fly the Coop

Mrs. R. M. Enevoldsen of Woodland Hills has a problem with her baby--a baby squirrel that is rapidly outgrowing a borrowed hamster cage. She would like to find a cylindrical cage two feet in diameter and about seven or eight feet high, perhaps even higher; some specialty store, she is sure, must have one squirreled away. Can you help before Enevoldsen goes completely nuts, or will she--and her baby pet--have to keep running around in circles?

John Dubock of Pasadena, who has bunions, is trying to locate wide bedroom slippers and is more interested in comfort than in style. Can you put your best foot forward and help, or will life be a sole-searching tight squeeze for Dubock?

Mary George of Anaheim would like to locate a hummingbird feeder that is shaped like a flying saucer, has three feeding holes and is about six inches in diameter. Can you help keep things flying along in George’s backyard, or will she be convinced that this humdinger of a problem is for the birds?

Marlene Bradley of Brentwood would like to find a store that stocks hardware for antique furniture, such as handles and knobs. Can you help her get a handle on such items, or will Bradley have to buy less s(nob)bish furniture in the future?

For B.J. and the other readers who were looking to have old phonographs and stereos repaired, we have news that will be music to their ears--two additional sources. Helen Fucciolo of Burbank highly recommends Vic de Francisco at Burbank Electronics Systems, 1817 W. Verdugo Ave., Burbank, (818) 842-8131; she says De Francisco did a great job on her 20-year-old Magnavox stereo console. And Neil Maken of Yesterday Once Again, P.O. Box 6773, Huntington Beach, Calif. 92615, (714) 963-2474, says his company does nothing but repair antique phonographs, including adjustments and restoration; they also carry spare and replacement parts.

For Harry Lincoln of Los Angeles, who was trying to fight arthritis with blackberry juice, the outlook is no longer so bleak. Mrs. Ohlberg of Glassell Park says Lucky Markets carry Daisy Fresh blackberry juice, a water-and-blackberry-concentrate mix; a quart is $1.59. And Zita Carno of Canoga Park and Stewart Wasserman of Van Nuys suggest some of the larger health food stores. Carno mentioned Mrs. Gooch’s, Lindberg Nutrition and Nature Mart in Hollywood.
