A bomb exploded in a car in an underground garage in the center of Paris on Sunday, killing two people and injuring two others, police said.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the evening explosion.

The bodies of the two victims were found about 15 yards from the site of the blast, police said.

Police said they had not determined whether the two people were intended victims and were blown out of the car or whether they were bystanders. They were not immediately identified.

Hundreds of people strolling along the Champs Elysees scattered at the sound of the explosion and authorities hurriedly cordoned off the area.
