BLACK EYE ON L.A.

Let’s see if I understand this: In order to alert parents to the dangers of pornography, KABC runs a highly publicized, graphic, weeklong news story at 4 p.m., when the kids are home watching TV and many parents are at work.

Then they do an intensive study of AIDS at 11 p.m., when many people who should see it are out socializing.

In between, “Eye on LA” does important pieces on body painting and the history of lingerie, and I’m sure that all this airing during a ratings month is pure coincidence.

But I’m not laying all the blame at their feet--they know what the viewers want and what sells.

Maybe they should do a story on hypocrisy--in all of us.
