Pillaster, making his first start on the dirt, took control on the final turn and went on to win the $248,000 Remsen for 2-year-olds on a muddy track at New York’s Aqueduct race track.
Ridden by Angel Cordero, Pillaster ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49 in beating Mr. Classic by 3 3/4 lengths. Dance of Life was another head back.
Pillaster, owned by Peter M. Brant, earned $148,000 for his third win in four starts and paid $4.60, $3.40 and $3.20.
