Chess Coverage
I’d like to express my thanks to Jack Peters for his excellent coverage of the world championship chess match. It shows that The Times is a civilized newspaper. Anatoly Karpov’s dramatic win was quite exciting. It was a pleasure to find the moves recorded in our morning paper.
A local TV station covered the chess match after the hockey, basketball, and USC highlights, but I got no idea from the coverage that Karpov had won his third game. I find world championship chess as interesting as hockey or basketball, and if TV wants to cover the final games, let them call on Jack Peters.
