‘Bare Look’

I appreciate Ben Callison’s naivete (Letters, Oct. 31). However, he must realize that that “bare-faced” or natural look he so admires in women usually takes a skillful hand and many hours of practice to achieve, not to mention more makeup than he ever dreamed.

I have yet to see a woman (including myself) whose looks were not improved immeasurably by discreetly applied eye shadow, foundation and blush. All it would take to change Callison’s opinion is one look at me stepping “bare-faced” and dripping from the shower at 7 a.m., and another an hour later after taking advantage of all the magic potions available at my local cosmetics counter.
