The Unit 2 reactor at Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant was reduced to 30% power after a construction accident. The unit was later brought back up to 75% power to resume testing at that level after the non-nuclear accident, said John Angius, spokesman for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. A cable supplying power to one of the unit’s two ocean water cooling pumps was damaged when a worker at the plant near San Luis Obispo accidentally cut through the line, Angius said. Unit 1, operating at full capacity, was unaffected, he added.
