Long Beach
The Harbor Commission has granted a Long Beach subsidiary of Atlantic Richfield Co. permission to place temporary living quarters and a catering van at ARCO’s Pier E oil terminal in preparation for a possible strike next month.
The facilities would house and feed workers for ARCO’s Four Corners Pipeline Co. during a strike if the 2,800-member Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers union and oil companies in Los Angeles and Orange counties fail to agree on a new contract by Jan. 8.
Maywood
An ordinance passed last January to restrict the establishment of businesses dispensing alcoholic beverages in Maywood has been extended for one year by the City Council. A 45-day moratorium on such uses was first passed in December, 1984. The Planning Commission needs more time to complete its studies and to draft recommendations for a permanent zoning ordinance, said Linda Dovalis, planning and development assistant.
