A 75-page report released by East Carolina University revealed several violations of NCAA rules during Ed Emory’s tenure as football coach.

The report said the violations fell into four categories unauthorized financial assistance to student athletes, maintenance of unauthorized bank accounts, use of graduate assistance for off-campus recruiting, and attempts to circumvent eligibility requirements.

Emory has denied any wrong doing during his tenure at the university. He was fired in 1984 after a 2-9 season.

University officials said evidence of possible NCAA rules violations was uncovered by the state attorney general’s office while investigating a $1.2 million lawsuit Emory filed against ECU after his dismissal. The lawsuit was settled in November 1985 for $139,000.
