Calabasas Restaurant Wins Zoning Change
Orofino’s Restaurant at 4505 Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas has been granted a zoning change allowing it to rebuild the restaurant and construct three two-story office buildings on the site.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the change Thursday after restaurant owner Michael Orofino agreed to meet several conditions requested by local residents, including landscaping the site and restricting building heights to 30 feet. The existing restaurant will be torn down and replaced.
David Vannatta, an aide to Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who represents the area, said that, under the Malibu-Santa Monica Mountains general plan, the land had been zoned residential, even though Orofino’s has been there for several years. The board agreed to change the zoning to commercial, he said.
