Mubarak Arrives in West Germany
BONN — Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived in West Germany on Thursday for a two-day visit aimed at drawing Bonn into the Mideast peace process.
Mubarak flew in from France to drum up support for his proposal that European leaders should help lay the groundwork for a peace conference that would include Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization.
The Egyptian president met with his West German counterpart, Richard von Weizsaecker, Thursday afternoon before meeting opposition leaders. His first session with Chancellor Helmut Kohl is due today, when he is also scheduled to hold a news conference.
