Jeff Ward of Mission Viejo, racing for the Kawasaki team, won the second round of the Nippondenso Supercross Series in the Houston Astrodome.
Rick Johnson of El Cajon, Calif., racing for the Honda team, held a five-second lead on Ward for the first 15 laps, but he lost the lead in a crash and dropped to second in front of teammate David Bailey of Axton, Va.
Bailey passed Johnson three laps from the finish, but Johnson held on for third. Honda came in with a 2-3-4 finish, with Johnny O’Mara of Simi Valley grabbing the fourth spot.
