North Stars Defeat Canadiens in Overtime, 4-3
Associated Press
MONTREAL — Curt Giles scored from a scramble at 2:03 of overtime, giving the Minnesota North Stars a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in the only NHL game played Monday.
Giles’ shot along the ice through a maze of players beat goaltender Doug Soetaert. It was Giles’ fifth goal of the season.
Montreal defenseman Larry Robinson had tied the game with only 55 seconds remaining in the third period to force the overtime.
