Productivity fell 3.1% in the fourth quarter.
The decline in non-farm business productivity erased slight gains made in the first nine months and produced an average decline for the year of 0.2%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. The revised figures, based on more complete data, indicated that the decline--the first quarterly drop in a year--was much worse than the 1.8% drop reported earlier.
