Two firms raised computer memory chip prices.
Intel and Advanced Micro Devices said they have raised prices on some computer memory chips to help boost their profits. Intel, located in Santa Clara, Calif., said it was raising by an average of 25% the minimum selling price of chips called EPROMs, for erasable programmable read only memory. The company lost $34.9 million in the last quarter of 1985. Advanced Micro Devices, located in Sunnyvale, Calif., also raised its EPROM prices by about 25% since November. The firm lost $17.7 million for the same quarter.
