Murdoch acquired six Metromedia TV stations.
Fox Television Stations, controlled by publishing magnate Rupert Murdoch, completed the acquisition of the television stations including KTTV in Los Angeles. As planned, Hearst Corp. simultaneously acquired Metromedia’s seventh TV station, WCVB in Boston. Fox Television, an affiliate of Murdoch-controlled 20th Century Fox Film Corp., said it has completed the exchange and sale of 1.15 million shares of its increasing rate exchangeable guaranteed preferred stock for $1.15 billion.
