La Habra : Driver Charged After Woman Dies in Crash
A Downey man was booked into Orange County Jail Monday after his car rear-ended another stopped at a traffic signal in La Habra, killing a woman passenger.
Ronald Walker Colley, 27, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, police said. Officers said James Zehner, 40, of Placentia and his wife Sheila, 36, were stopped at a traffic light on Imperial Highway at Euclid Street Sunday night when Colley’s car struck them from behind.
Sheila Zehner was pronounced dead at the scene, and James Zehner was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in fair condition Monday.
A passenger in Colley’s car, Kathleen Tippitt, 26, of Downey, was taken to Western Medical Center-Anaheim, where she was listed in stable condition.
Colley spent Sunday night in the UCI Medical Center jail ward but was sent to the regular jail Monday, where he was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
