Detectives had few leads in their search for an assailant who slit the throat of an employee at a popular San Pedro restaurant in an apparent robbery. Authorities said the body of Kam Ayub, 27, of Long Beach, was found by the manager of the Grinder restaurant at 5th Street and Harbor Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Detective Larry Kallestad said. Investigators said the assailant took less than $300 from the restaurant before fleeing. Ayub, a native of Bangladesh, had been the last worker in the restaurant when it closed, Kallestad said. Detectives were looking at robbery as the motive for the attack, but Kallestad added, “We’re not discounting anything at this point.”
