TCU Defeats Montana in NIT Opener, 76-69
MISSOULA, Mont. — Guard Carl Lott scored 27 points to lead Texas Christian to a 76-69 victory over Montana Tuesday night in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Lott, a 6-foot 4-inch junior, hit 12 of 14 shots from the field and 3 of 6 free throws as TCU, which tied for the title in the Southwest Conference, raised its record to 22-8.
Montana, which finished at 21-11, was paced by 6-9 senior forward Larry Krystkowiak, who had 26 points and 10 rebounds. With a dunk at the final buzzer, Krystkowiak tied the Big Sky Conference career scoring record of 2,019 points set by Weber State’s Bruce Collins in 1976-1980.
