West Los Angeles : Three Judges Appointed

Three Westside attorneys have been appointed to Municipal Court seats by Gov. George Deukmejian. They are Bert Glennon, Valerie Baker and John H. Reid.

Glennon, city attorney in Culver City since 1982, was appointed to fill the vacancy in Culver City Municipal Court created by the retirement of Frank W. Troost. He will assume the bench on April 7.

He was in private practice from 1980 to 1982 and was a Los Angeles deputy city attorney from 1970 to 1980.

Glennon, 47, is a member of the Culver City and Los Angeles County Bar associations and is vice president of the City Attorneys Assn. of Los Angeles County.

Baker, a Santa Monica resident, fills a newly created position. She was a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Lillick, McHose & Charles, specializing in business litigation. From 1977 to 1980 she was an assistant U. S. attorney. She began her law career as an associate for the Los Angeles firm of Overton, Lyman & Prince in 1975.

Baker, 36, is a member of the Women Lawyers’ Assn. of Los Angeles, California Women Lawyers and the Santa Monica and Los Angeles County Bar associations.

Reid, 38, of Malibu, also fills a newly created position. As head deputy district attorney in Beverly Hills, Reid was in charge of the prosecution of misdemeanors and felonies, including drunk driving, rape and murder. He is a member of the California District Attorneys Assn. and is on the board of the Assn. of Deputy District Attorneys.

A Municipal Court judge earns $70,436.
