A reputed high-ranking member of the Japanese crime organization known as the “Yakuza” has been arrested on suspicion of visa fraud, immigration officials said. Masayoshi Takahashi, 68, of Tokyo was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport as he stepped off a Japan Air Lines plane, an Immigration and Naturalization Service spokesman said. Takahashi, who was being held without bail, was charged with concealing a lengthy criminal record when he applied for a visa. If convicted, he could receive a maximum prison sentence of five years and a $2,000 fine.
