20 Motorists Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint
Twenty motorists were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs Friday night and early Saturday at a sobriety checkpoint in Studio City, Los Angeles police reported.
Police said 1,090 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Valleyheart Drive between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 2:15 a.m. Saturday. Seventeen of 40 drivers given field sobriety tests were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Three were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Two other felony arrests were made by officers at the site, one on suspicion of possessing hashish and another on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon.
