Freestyle Races Won by Dan Jorgenson and Kim Brown
ORLANDO, Fla. — Dan Jorgenson of Irvine Nova and Kim Brown of Southern California scored victories in the men’s and women’s 1,650-yard freestyle races Saturday at the U.S. Swimming Short Course National Championships at Justus Aquatic Center.
Jorgenson finished in 14:53.67 and was followed by Sean Killion of the Jersey Wahoos in 14:56.99 and Paul Robinson of the Richardson Swim team in 15:02.29.
Tom Genz, who swims for the Little Rock Racquet Club, took the 100-yard breaststroke and swam the breaststroke leg in the winning 400-yard medley relay for Little Rock.
In the women’s 1,650-yard freestyle, Brown posted a 16:05.18 for the win, followed by Missy Herndon of the Kansas City Blazers in 16:08 and Julie Martin of Cypress Aquatics in 16:11.27.
In the final team standings, Mission Viejo won overall with 603 points, with the Curl Swim Club second at 525, and Foxcatcher a distant third at 408.
