UC Irvine Loses Fourth Straight in Tennis, 5-4 to North Carolina
The UC Irvine men’s tennis team lost its fourth consecutive match Sunday afternoon, losing 5-4 to North Carolina for 16th place in the Blue Gray national championships at Montgomery, Ala.
The teams were tied 4-4 going into the last doubles match. Jed DeMatthes and Jeff Chambers defeated Julio Barhan and Mark Kaplin, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1, to give North Carolina the win.
Irvine’s Bruce Man Son Hing, 20th-ranked in the country, defeated Jeff Chambers, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, in singles. The Anteaters (12-8) play BYU at home Thursday.
