The University of Houston has asked Tom Davis, Stanford basketball coach, to succeed the retired Guy Lewis, but Davis was in Iowa Monday interviewing for a similar position.

Andy Geiger, Stanford athletic director, confirmed that Davis left Dallas Sunday to talk with Bump Elliott, Iowa athletic director, and other officials. Iowa Coach George Raveling left the Hawkeyes last week to become the new coach at USC.
