Dione Neutra to Be Honored
“A Tribute to Dione Neutra,” honoring her life with her husband, the late architect Richard Neutra, and her contributions to architecture and music, will be held Tuesday at the Biltmore.
The tribute will be sponsored by the Los Angeles chapter, American Institute of Architects, and five area architectural schools: Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Sci-Arc, UCLA and USC.
A no-host wine-and-cheese reception will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $25. Reservation information may be obtained from the Institute’s Los Angeles chapter office at 8687 Melrose Ave.
Dione Neutra was married to the famous architect for 47 years, until he died in 1970. In the early years of their marriage, she learned to type and became his only secretary, accompanying him on most of his world travels.
They had three children, including Dion Neutra, who is an architect in Los Angeles.
