Schmitt Helps Cypress Softball Team to Easy 5-1 Victory Over Riverside
Char Schmitt had a single, a double, and a triple and scored two runs to lead Cypress College to a 5-1 victory over Riverside in a nonconference softball game Monday at Cypress.
Schmitt had three of Cypress’ four hits and drove in one run for the Chargers (28-12), who tied a school record for victories in a season. Karen Nakamaru (16-6) allowed three hits in four innings. Riverside committed three errors and allowed 10 walks among three pitcher.
In other nonconference action:
Rancho Santiago 2, Palomar 0--Lorraine Kalehuawehe pitched a two-hitter and drove in a run to lead the Dons in Santa Ana. Rancho Santiago (30-5) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth and added a run in the sixth.
