Loyola Marymount Gets No. 1 Ranking
TUCSON, Ariz. — Loyola Marymount has taken over first place for the first time ever in this week’s Collegiate Baseball-ESPN rankings of college baseball teams.
Loyola Marymount (36-7) has won 19 of its last 20 games, has a six-game winning streak, has scored 95 runs in the last five games and has an 18-1 road record. The Lions jumped ahead two places from a week ago, switching positions with Louisiana State (38-7).
Florida State (46-8) stayed in second place, while Miami, Fla., (33-11) remained in fourth; Texas (45-9) moved up from sixth to fifth; Oral Roberts (34-11) climbed from seventh to sixth, and South Florida (41-11) dropped from fifth to seventh.
UCLA (28-17) held onto eighth; Texas A&M; (36-18) cracked the top 10, taking over No. 9 as Stanford fell out. Michigan (28-7) improved from 13th to 10th.
